Sotomayor: Do you know what she stands for?

You might not know what Sonia Sotomayor stands for after the Senate hearings conducted earlier this week, in which she avoided critical political questions. Some of these questions included her position on abortion and gun rights, which should leave you asking questions about her and what she will really do when she goes into the supreme court. She has ‘said’ that she doesn’t rule on issues according to law and not to her liberal views. However, you don’t know how she will rule on these cases because she will not give a straight answer. You want one? She will vote liberal for just about everything. Yes, maybe she will vote conservative once in awhile, but you just can’t know.

To get a little perspective on Sotomayor’s views, the NRA came out and said that they will oppose Sotomayor on her gun rights views. To even take it a step further, in her Maloney v. Cuomo opinion she said that the Second Amendment was not a fundamental right and that it only applies at the federal level, not the states. I still remember getting a mailer from the NRA saying that Obama wants our guns taken away and surely enough a couple months later, I can’t buy ammo at the local gun shop. Why, you might ask, when Obama wants to limit the amount of ammo we can buy, would he nominate a woman who supports guns? Newsflash: He nominated one who didn’t.

On abortion she swings the way you would think she would: a pro-choice liberal. Even many of her friends have come out and said that she is a sure hit to vote pro-choice. Is she denying this? Yes of course, because she wants make everyone think that she works both sides of the table. Why? Because she wants to get in to the Supreme Court and never look back. Again, I refer back to Obama. The American people voted for him in November and I know that some of them at least regret their decision. Please call your Senator and tell him/her to vote against Sotomayor, as it might be our last chance to save conservatism enough to be able to pull it back in 2012. But, by that time, it might just be too late. With Obama sitting in the Oval Office, you will have to expect a liberal candidate no matter where you go. If she does become a Supreme Court Justice, she will be tested quickly on her views and won’t turn out to be the judge the American people thought they were getting (Ring a bell? aka Obama). They may not ever have the chance to appoint someone like her for the rest of our lifetime.

While I agree with every point. The problem is this: There is absolutly no way of stopping her appointment. It’s to bad we the American Public don’t have some sort of a say on the issue.

  • Very insightful and only 16. A young William Buckley?

  • Believe you are right, both in word and thought !

  • Alright. I can agree with some of what you’ve said. Sotomayor does need to answer these questions even if she already has been elected. I think this one was a very blind choice. I agree that much of what she did is ridiculous and can therefore only be refered to as shenanigans.

But I have my own views as a left wing democrat. Your blatant bashing of Obama in this article is not only highly unnecesary, its childish. I understand that most republicans are very affronted with Obama’s election but its getting kinda ridiculous. Im sure there would be plenty of democrats b******* and moaning about McCain too but this differs from most “Electoral B*******” if you will. Most of these comments come based of the fact that Obama has a social past that most people don’t look for in the Prez. Look at it this way; if s*** was getting f****d up before and nothing changed then why not do something different?

  • “Your blatant bashing of Obama in this article is not only highly unnecesary, its childish.”

In Jedi’s defense, he only mentioned Obama once and it was a truthful parallel. Sotomayor is all smoke and mirrors when it comes to her views, and the focus has been on who she is a person, not a judge. The same was with Obama during the campaign. He rarely had a solid platform or plan, instead, the media focused on who he was, where he was from, his family, etc. If he had a view it was broad and gray. Now, people are realizing that he isn’t the candidate they voted for.

And I ask politely that you don’t swear on my blog. Hell and damn are acceptable if they aren’t directed at anyone, but all others, including racial slurs, are not permitted on my blog. Graci.

“then why not do something different?”

Great, let’s do something different. How about we do what has worked in the past! Scale down government, reduce spending, balance the budget, cut taxes, adhere to the Constitution, and vote based on principles. What ruined the economy and most of America are the same things that have ruined it in the past: Regulations, over-spending, big government, and a complete ignorance of the vox populi.

  • Kaptain,

I wish to respond to your comment. I only spoke the truth about obama. He doesn’t support the 2nd amendment. That is not bashing that is telling the truth and as a blogger I believe it is my duty to tell the facts as they are. If there is anything that u believe is false tell me, cause the research don’t lie my friend.

    Sincerly,

  • Jedi, you must realize this lady is a devil playing tricks on your lasting words. She is Obama in sheep’s clothing. Of course she will vote the way he wants because he is the man in charge. No one will stand up again his arm-bearing catastrophic views. Or the fact that a life is a life. No, no. To her, it is not that of what is right, but it is that of what gets her a job. That is how it is now a days in politics. Whatever gets you into the know how is obviously right. We cannot take anything he says or that she says seriously. It’s all about the look. He says one thing to please the people and doesn’t think that people like us pay attention to what he actually does. She thinks the same way. Although, we as 16 year old students, yes I am 16 also, look differently. We read, we study, we understand. She will be put on the court, and it will ruin it. She is nothing more than a pawn in Obama’s ultimate plan of either the abolishment of conservatism or even a republic government. Remember, he believes socialism is the way to be. Go ask the Russians and Chinese people what that lead to. You’re writing is very good.

  • Nice piece Jedidiah, glad to visit this site. And by the way, this was very tastefully done because while it called attention to Obama and his ideology, it certianly was not “obama bashing”.
